Rick Abbott has shared forty years with his wife, Phoebe. Since building their first home on the peninsula 38 years ago, they have raised 3 (now adult) children, with two of them choosing to continue to live on the Peninsula with their spouses and children.
Rick started his building material career on the Peninsula 38 years ago working for Superior Building Supply. He later became Branch Manager / Soldotna General Manager for Spenard Builders Supply, where he works today. Rick is most commonly known as the one who has shared his words of inspiration on the Soldotna SBS sign since 1980.
Rick’s outstanding involvement in the community reaches far and wide. He currently serves on the Board of Kenai Peninsula Builders Association. He is an avid hunter and fisherman and services on the Boards of Safari Club International and the Kenai Peninsula Chapter Safari Club International. Rick is a trustee for the Sterling United Pentecostal Church, where he also teaches teens and has been a mentor at Skyview High School.
