Big Board
One of our generous volunteers at the hospital purchased a “Big Board” for the Day Surgery lounge. The board helps family track where their loved ones are during their journey through surgery. The Central Peninsula Health Foundation thanks Ruby Christopherson for her thoughtful gift.

10th Annual Way Out Women Snowmachine Ride

October 11, 2013 by Bruce

2013 Way Out Women

2013 Way Out WomenIt is time to register for the 2014 “Way Out Women” (WOW) snow machine ride, benefiting cancer patients throughout the Kenai Peninsula. The group raises money with this annual ride to benefit local oncology patients and the funds are administered by the Central Peninsula Health Foundation. This year’s event will be held on February 22nd, 2014 at Freddie’s Roadhouse, Mile 16 Oilwell Road in Caribou Hills.

Riders can sign up individually or as a team and are encouraged to gather pledges. This is the 10th WOW ride and over $445,000 has been raised to help the community with the emotional and financial burden of a cancer diagnosis.

WOW funds are used in a variety of ways: to help a young mom with babysitting, provide transportation for radiation, purchase needed medications and much more.
Your $100 entry fee includes:

  • Continental breakfast before the ride
  • Lunch
  • WOW goody bag
  • Limited edition t-shirt
  • Entry for door prizes, costume contest and silent auction

For more information please contact Kathy Lopeman 283-7602 or 398-4853 or [email protected].

From the first ride event in 2005 to date the W.O.W. Fund has given assistance to approximately 445 individuals. That equals $445,000.00 over the last nine years.

2013 Pink Ribbon Rally

2013 Pink Ribbon Rally
The Central Peninsula Health Foundation would like to thank the Pink Ribbon Rally committee, volunteers, participants and sponsors for their continued support of the Breast Cancer Resources Fund. On September 6, 2013, The Pink Ribbon Rally committee presented a check for $24,000 to CPHF for a six year total of $102,000.

“The Breast Cancer Fund was established by a group of local women who coordinate a golf & fundraising event to support the fight against breast cancer. This fund provides resources for the early detection and treatment of this all-too-prevalent disease.

The Breast Cancer Resource fund pays for direct patient assistance, as well as the cost of informational breast cancer care pamphlets and sponsors the annual “Pamper-Me-Pink” party.
